iWire Tech Guide for Deutsch DT/DTM Connector Crimping

Here are the names and links to the tools used in this guide:

1. Make sure to use a good stripper that won’t cut the inner strands, only the outer sheath.

2. Use the pin to make sure the empty wire is the length of the barrel plus a few millimeters

3. Adjust tool to the proper gauge (in this case is 22 AWG) – only applies to this tool and not the cheaper model

4. Insert terminal into crimp tool and adjust depth so the terminal sits just above the opening

5. Insert wire.

6. Crimp wire with a smooth action until the tool ratchets back.

7. Finished crimp should be centered between the neck and the bottom edge of the terminal with the wire coming out straight from the bottom.

8. Push the wires into the slots. Because the wire is a thin gauge of wire, a small screwdriver on the edge of the terminal can help guide it through.

9. Make sure the pins are seated, then install the wedgelock to hold the pins in place

10. Same process for the other style connector.
